meet Melissa
Melissa Knieriem, founder of Frankfort Candle Company and self-professed lover of vintage, is proud to open the doors of Heirloom in historic downtown Frankfort, Illinois.
Melissa’s healthy obsession with vintage furniture, art and home decor can be traced back to childhood memories of her grandmothers’ homes and special heirlooms handed down from generation to generation. It was these warm memories, combined with Melissa’s passion for creating something new and useful out of something old with a story, that drove her to create Frankfort Candle Company in 2020.
As Melissa connected with more and more like-minded vintage and home decor lovers, she realized customers were seeking ways to decorate their homes beautifully and sustainably, but also in a unique way, featuring one-of-a-kind items.
And Heirloom was born.
At Heirloom, Melissa utilizes her interior design background to thoughtfully curate the store’s space, combining vintage pieces with modern ones and styling them as only Melissa can. When vintage shopping and antiquing, she hopes to unearth your future family heirloom, destined for a second life in your home.
